Updating multiple social networks at once

Multiple Social Networks

Updating Multiple Social NetworksSocial media websites are a marketer’s dream because it offers many opportunities for interacting with a target audience. They are also a marketer’s nightmare because each network is different and content usually has to be cross posted to multiple websites. This can be a time consuming process and content may be presented different ways on the various social media sites. You also have to monitor the activity on these websites so you can engage with your audience. This has given birth to a set of tools to optimize the use of multiple social media sites.

You can manage multiple social profiles with HootSuite or monitor the success of your social marketing activities with Cyfe. There are many other free and priced solutions available that help with managing the ever increasing number of social media websites. There are plugins for almost all social networks that integrate with WordPress and other blog platforms and popular content management systems.

The problem with all of these solutions for updating multiple social media sites at once is that you trade convenience for flexibility. You can post one article to your website and have it reposted to Facebook or Twitter but you have limited control of how exactly the post will look. The only way to get access to the full features of a social media website is to use the original site itself.

At the end of the day you will have to try out the different available solutions and choose the one that works best for you. I personally publish my posts to social media sites using the JetPack plugin to post to other social media sites. This works well when I just want to share a link to an article. If I want to share an image for example, posting to the individual social media sites directly is my preferred option.
